Miriam is the recipient of the Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship for Academic and Professional Excellence 2024-25 to expand her research on visibilising the Roles of Women in Cinema as well as teaching at UT Austin, Texas (USA).

She has been screening her films and teaching at India’s premiere institutes including at IIT Mumbai in the Industrial Design Centre, AJK Mass Communication Research Centre in Jamia Milia Islamia University New Delhi, Mount Carmel College in Bangalore, Let’s Doc the documentary forum in Kolkata and a master class on Indian Documentary on the World Stage at the International Film Festival of India in Goa.

She began her career as a broadcast journalist with CNBC India. A postgraduate from the AJK Mass Communication Research Centre, New Delhi. She was awarded the Best Outgoing Student of the Department of Botany when she graduated with a BSc. Honors from Stella Maris College, Chennai. Her pre-university years were at Mount Carmel College, Bangalore where she was felicitated as one of their 75 distinguished alumni on their platinum jubilee. Miriam’s schooling was at Sophia High School, Bangalore.

In 2011, Miriam through Filament Pictures teamed up with India’s biggest theatre chain PVR cinemas to conduct art, photography and filmmaking workshops in over 100 schools and NGOs for underprivileged children in Mumbai. It culminated in an exhibition and screenings of the films made by the children on the theme “My City, My Park’.
